About The Forum Events
The Forum holds events across the year where keynote speakers are invited to give a talk on a topic of interest to the membership and a second speaker from the sector provides a response. After the talk there is an opportunity to network with other members and our sponsors.

Summer Symposium to be held at UBS
To book a ticket for this event, please visit the Eventbrite page here
Registration is from 13.30. Formal proceedings commence at 14:00 and will be followed by a drinks reception from 17:10 until 18:30.
This year our Symposium is focusing on how to explore and exploit new technologies and ways of thinking. In our symposium we will be exploring Digital strategies, Responsible Investment strategies and Blockchain technology and understanding how these might be relevant to our charities. We will hear from expert speakers and have the opportunity to learn from each other.
- Whose digital strategy is it anyway? Zoe Amar, widely regarded as one of the charity sector’s leading digital experts, author and Chair of The Charity Digital Code of Practice.
Zoe will draw on insights from insights from The Charity Digital Skills Report to question who should own and drive digital in charities. Why is it important to understand your beneficiaries and the e-journeys they make? How can trustees manage risks around the digital platforms?
- Responsible investment strategies. David Rowe and Helen McDonald of UBS will be providing insights into the rapid development and adoption of responsible or sustainable investment by investors in the UK and how UBS is advising charity Trustees to respond. David and Helen have been at the forefront of UBS's development in the UK of an advisory capability designed to help charities understand the rapid change in this approach to investing.
Luke Fletcher, a Partner in the Charity and Social Enterprise team at BWB, will advise on the legal and policy aspects of investing in ethical funds and investing to create a positive social impact. Luke works with a wide range of clients making a difference in society at home and abroad, often by combining profit with purpose.
- Getting smart about ledgers – What’s a charity Treasurer to do about Blockchain? Prof Michael Mainelli, Executive Chairman, Z/Yen Group and author of “The Price of Fish: A New Approach to Wicked Economics and Better Decisions”.
Smart Ledgers are touted as a technology for fair play in a globalised world and have risen to prominence due to their use in cryptocurrencies. Charity treasurers need to understand potential smart ledger applications, potential benefits and risks, and start to form a view on the technology’s likely impact on their work.
Members who have paid their annual subscription will have free entry. A small charge is made for others. If you wish to join (annual fee £25) please find the application form at http://www.honorarytreasurers.org.uk
