ACEVO is the membership body for civil society leaders in England and Wales. We inspire and support our members by fostering connections, developing skills and building influence. ACEVO’s network includes leaders of every shape and size of civil society organisation and at every stage of their leadership journey.

The role of Treasurer has recently become vacant, and we are now inviting applications. The charity is supported by a strong trustee group, highly competent managers, and dedicated staff. With income and expenditure hovering around £1 million, plus reserves bolstered by a recent endowment, we are in a healthy financial position.

Outgoing treasurer Joyce Materego Woodall has played a key role in our governance since her appointment in December 2020, and she leaves a legacy of strong, supportive financial oversight, assurance to the board and encouragement to the senior management team.

Candidates will share our determination to support civil society leaders to have the greatest impact. A qualified accountant with a strong understanding of charity finance and accounting, you will have or be able to develop a good understanding of our business model. You’ll have the skills and ability to provide appropriate oversight and coaching on accounting and audit matters to our senior team, including the head of finance & operations, and be able to lead our finance and audit committee and provide assurance to our board.

We are deeply committed to antiracism, equity and diversity. We work intentionally to maintain a balance of gender, race, sexuality and disability around our board table.
