Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) is an international movement that started in the 1970s in the American prison system. AVP Britain (AVPB) is one of multiple independent charities, which operate around the globe. AVP Britain is committed to working towards a non-violent society through our conflict resolution programmes provided to prisons and communities across Britain, via distance learning, online and in-person at our London office.

We are seeking individuals with:

  • A commitment to the organisation and its vision for a non-violent society.
  • A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort.
  • Strategic vision.
  • Good, independent judgement.
  • An ability to think creatively.
  • A willingness to speak their mind.
  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
  • An ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

As Treasurer you will also have the following qualities:

  • Financial qualifications and experience.
  • Experience of charity finance, fundraising and pension schemes.
  • Ability to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences.
  • Willingness to support staff and trustees with adhoc enquiries when needed.
