The Crossness Engines Trust (‘CET’) is an inspirational and innovative preservation and heritage charity. It was one of the first of its kind.
The ‘Cathedral on the Marsh’ is home to the immense Victorian beam engines installed in the 1860s by renowned civil engineer, Sir Joseph Bazalgette. His pioneering work led directly to the health and sanitation improvements we enjoy to this day.
Since formation, the Trust’s volunteers have restored a gigantic beam engine to full steam operation. Our restoration and preservation work continues. We’re where we are today because of the work of enthusiasts, volunteers and philanthropic supporters.
We are now recruiting a volunteer Treasurer Elect to take over from our long-standing Treasurer. The role will be a Trustee and will chair the Finance and Business Planning Committee and oversee our budgeting and monitoring processes as well as overseeing preparation of our annual report and accounts.
