WECAN is a unique, registered charity based in Hexham that provides support for children, young people and adults with mild, moderate and complex needs, severe learning disabilities, spectrum disorders and sensory impairment. We mainly provide care in the community but not exclusively.

Our charity was founded nearly 30 years ago and many children have grown up with us and now form part of our adult’s section. What started as a holiday club has become a vital support service and respite for the families and carers. Fun is at the heart of what we do, and regular activities include swimming, bowling, cinema, arts and crafts. In the summer, we go further afield to venues such as Beamish, Raby Castle, Digger land and more.

We are looking to recruit 3 three trustees to join the team that oversees the work of WECAN. No previous Trustee experience is necessary but those with experience of social care, HR or legal would be especially welcome.

As a trustee, you can help shape the future of WECAN and enhance the lives of the families and those we serve.
