The Humane League UK (THL UK) are seeking two new Trustees to add to the current Board of five voluntary members. Board members (trustees) of THL UK are responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring strong governance, and safeguarding the organisation’s mission, values, and financial sustainability. This is a voluntary position, and trustees are expected to act in the best interests of the charity and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Applicants should be committed to ending the abuse of animals raised for food, aligned with THL UK’s ethos, and willing to devote the necessary time: approximately four hours per month, quarterly Board meetings, occasional ad-hoc meetings, and attendance at in-person events including the annual all-team summer workshop.
While direct animal-protection experience isn’t essential, candidates should bring a strategic mindset, sound judgment, effective communication skills, and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
THL UK is especially looking for expertise in charity governance (including legal, risk management) and/or finance/fundraising (interpreting budgets, financial controls) – though a range of skills will be considered.
In return, trustees gain support and training to develop new skills, opportunities to make strategic decisions and contribute to a kinder, more compassionate world.
