We are seeking trustees with a variety of experiences to help guide a new charity’s growth, governance and impact in reducing re-offending through self- employment.
Restart in Business aims to create sustainable self-employment opportunities for people who are exiting the criminal justice system and seeking to rebuild their livelihoods. We are currently forming our charitable organisation and we seek trustees who are passionate about reducing reoffending and supporting ex-offender to build better futures through self-employment.
Our broader goal is to reduce reoffending. A high number of those who serve prison sentences will reoffend unless they have positive alternatives to crime.
The stigma associated with being on the wrong end of the criminal justice system massively narrows chances of gaining lawful employment but self-employment is a potential solution. Restart in Business draws on lived experience in rehabilitation and business by delivering structured development programmes and offering advice and support from experienced business coaches over a two-year period.
This is an opportunity to contribute to the building of our charity and to help guide our strategic direction, ensuring good governance, accountability and long-term sustainability.
