Northampton Students’ Union is entering an exciting new chapter, and we are looking for a passionate and skilled accountant to join our Board of Trustees as a Lay Trustee. Following a recent skills audit, we have finance and accountancy as our key skill gap on our board, and we would love your expertise to help shape our future.
As a Lay Trustee, you will play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of a student-led charity that supports over 12,000 members. You will work alongside elected student officers, external trustees, and our Senior Leadership Team to ensure our financial sustainability uphold our values, and champion the student experience.
This voluntary role involves attending four main board meetings per year (two in-person away days, two virtual meetings), plus chairing our finance sub-committee (virtual). We welcome applications from individuals with a background in accountancy who are committed to good governance, independent thinking, and making a meaningful impact.
You do not need prior experience in the student movement, just a belief in our mission, a collaborative spirit, and a readiness to contribute your financial insight to a diverse and forward-thinking board. We are especially keen to hear from candidates who reflect the diversity of our student community, including people of colour and people with disabilities.
