STARS Dorset November 28, 2024

STARS Dorset is an independent specialist charity supporting anyone living in Dorset who has been affected, at any time in their lives, by sexual violence.  There are two key charitable objectives – providing trauma support and raising awareness through engagement and education.  The charity was established in 1988, as t East Dorset Rape Crisis Line which offered a confidential listening service   In 2011, the charity secured funding from the Ministry of Justice and Dorset Rape Crisis Support Centre was established.  In 2018, the charity became a CIO and changed its name to Sexual Trauma and Recovery Services – Dorset Rape Crisis, now known as STARS Dorset and launched in 2019.

During 2024, the team celebrated the first 5 years of STARS Dorset, looking back at its key achievements which include moving Head Office, opening a second centre in Dorchester, securing two commissioned service contracts and reaching the £1,000,000 income threshold.

We are now looking for a new Trustee Treasurer to join our dynamic and diverse Board, to help support our ambitious aims for the next 5 years.   The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with charity experience, and business development expertise. Board meetings are held bi-monthly and our two sub- meet on the alternative months.

National Numeracy November 28, 2024

Closing Date: 10am 2nd January 2025. Based: UK based with offices in Sussex & most board meetings held in London.

National Numeracy is looking to appoint up a new Hon Treasurer, to replace the retiring trustee, who has reached their maximum term limit.

This is a key appointments to help steer the charity through its next phase of development. The new trustee will be inspiring, dynamic and ambitious individuals who are committed to making a significant and lasting improvement to numeracy levels across the UK.

Trustees are encouraged to get to know National Numeracy well and to respond to opportunities to involve themselves in National Numeracy activities. Beyond board meetings this might include supporting key initiatives, such as National Numeracy Day, meeting with prospective strategic funders, or providing guidance on major projects to the Executive team as appropriate.

Whilst the charity is based in the South East of England, we are looking for the right candidates from across the UK and are willing to pay travel expenses for meeting attendance if required. We are also committed to broadening the diversity of the board and would like to hear from applicants who can contribute greater diversity of representation, experience and thinking, including Black, Asian and minority ethnic people, LGBTQ+ people and people with disabilities.

We are seeking a treasurer to join our board of trustees. As treasurer you will bring a certain level of experience and expertise to the role to ensure the financial success of the organization. You will work with the CE and Chair to develop a budget and monitor and evaluate financial progress.

As treasurer your overall role will be to maintain oversight of key financial management including financial controls, reports to board, year-end accounts and managing financial risks.

Beyond the Page November 27, 2024

Beyond The Page is an innovative teaching organisation located in Thanet, east Kent. Our vision is to build strong, flourishing communities in which women of all backgrounds can fully participate. Our work focusses on building speaking confidence and inter-cultural friendships, combining teaching English as an additional language with a holistic and creative approach. Our core programme, “United Mothers”, provides free weekly women-only spaces for safe and friendly English language learning for all ages and abilities.

The United Mothers programme is a long-term commitment by BTP; it is offered free and without registration criteria of any sort to all Thanet women, although our work focusses on language learning for minority ethnic women with English as an additional language. Our intention is to remove as many barriers as possible to their engagement and ability to participate. Groups are based in local community centres. Our unique approach combines ESOL teaching with a strong ethos of equality and community-building. 

We are looking for someone who is passionate about social justice and equity for women, with accountancy qualifications and charity reporting experience, to join us as a non-executive treasurer. We are currently a not for profit company and are aiming to transition to a charity over the next 12 months.

Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. We exist to end the pain and suffering and loss of life among people affected by eating disorders:

We help them to understand their illness, support them to get treatment and help them towards recovery.

We help families and carers know how best to support a loved one into, through and out of treatment.

And we train teachers, health professionals and other key individuals to spot when someone is showing the early signs of an eating disorder, how to talk to them and how to encourage them to seek and get treatment as quickly as possible.

We use our experience to campaign for better government policy and health service practice that addresses the challenges faced by people with eating disorders, always guided by the experience of our beneficiaries and the expertise of clinicians. We work both nationally and locally, focussing on three priority areas: early intervention, family empowerment and prevention & cure.

We are seeking a treasurer and two trustees who share our commitment to social justice and achieving positive change for children and young people in the youth justice system.

As members of our Board of Trustees successful candidates will play a vital role in making sure that the Alliance for Youth Justice is run effectively, is helping the people it is supposed to in the best way possible, and is using its funds wisely and appropriately.

InterAct November 27, 2024

Children and young people with SEND struggle to develop relationships, build friendships and connect with their local communities. This increases their sense of isolation and loneliness that in turn impacts upon their physical and mental health as well as puts pressure on their families who are trying to support them. To help address this health care need, InterAct provides opportunities for children and young people in Essex to get out of the house, meet others, develop social skills, and enjoy physical activities and games whilst also engaging with their local community.

We’re looking for a volunteer Trustee Treasurer who believes these young people would benefit from more access to opportunities that help them become less reliant on care services as they grow older. The Treasurer will take the lead in overseeing the financial affairs of the charity, ensuring its financial viability and that proper financial records and procedures are maintained. The post holder will work with the CEO to assist and enable the Board to perform their financial duties, by explaining accounting requirements and providing and commenting upon financial reports in an easy to understand format.

For this role, we are seeking expertise in management accounts and financial controls.

Music Relief Foundation (MRF) is a charity that uses music to support young people and communities, particularly those in disadvantaged areas. Our primary aim is to help young people build confidence, skills, and emotional resilience through music-based activities. We provide opportunities for music education, mentorship, and engagement, creating pathways for youth to develop their musical talents and find a positive outlet for self-expression.

One of the core goals of the MRF is to promote social inclusion by offering music-related services and programs to young people from diverse backgrounds. We offer a range of initiatives, including:
