The Audio Description Association is the definitive body related to audio description (AD) in the UK. Our mission is to improve the experience of blind and partially sighted attenders at live performance, museums, galleries and heritage sites, and on-screen by supporting the provision of AD services, in particular raising quality and standards of provision through the creation of AD curricula for training and trainees.
We are a small, membership-based organisation, with an annual income of just over £20,000 and a small numer of monthly financial transactions. We are run by an Executive Committee of volunteer trustees with a broad mix of skills and experience, and supported by a part-time administrator.
We are seeking a new Treasurer, to help ensure that our charity remains financially secure and well-governed. The time commitment is around 2-4 hours per month for financial administration and reporting, with some additional time required at year end for preparation of the annual accounts. The role also requires attendance at quarterly Board meetings (online) and our Annual General Meeting.
Experience in financial management is important, as are good organisational skills and attention to detail, but accountancy qualifications are not required, neither is previous charity experience.
