Deadline: 26th April 2026
Helen & Douglas House, based in Oxford, is the world’s first children’s hospice, providing palliative, respite, end‑of‑life and bereavement care for children with life‑shortening conditions across the Thames Valley. Services are delivered through hospice-based care, community outreach and hospital in‑reach, supporting both children and their families. The charity is governed by a Board of Trustees responsible for strategic leadership, legal compliance, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high‑quality care in a regulated healthcare environment.
The Treasurer is a key member of the Board, ensuring strong financial governance and long‑term sustainability. This includes advising on strategy from a financial perspective, ensuring the Board receives clear budgets and accounts, and that financial reporting meets statutory and funder requirements. The Treasurer recommends accounting controls and policies, oversees audit processes, and works closely with the Director of Finance. They ensure effective management of assets and investments, appropriate reserves, and robust risk and compliance processes. The role also includes chairing the Finance Committee and supporting board development activities.
The ideal candidate is a qualified finance professional with board-level experience, strong knowledge of audit, investment oversight, and charity financial standards, and a commitment to the charity’s mission of delivering exceptional palliative care.
