Deadline: Applications are being considered on a rolling basis

South West London Law Centres is seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees and help shape the future of one of the largest Law Centres in England and Wales. For over 50 years, we have provided free legal advice and representation to people facing housing problems, debt, welfare benefit issues and immigration challenges, supporting thousands of people across south-west London every year.

As Treasurer, you will play a key strategic role in overseeing the financial health, sustainability and resilience of the organisation. Working closely with the Chief Executive, senior leadership team and fellow trustees, you will help ensure the Board has the financial information and assurance it needs to make informed decisions. While our experienced finance team manages the day-to-day finances, you will provide oversight of budgets, financial reporting, risk management and long-term financial planning, helping to ensure the Law Centre remains financially strong in an increasingly challenging funding environment.

We are looking for someone with senior financial leadership, accountancy or charity finance experience who can bring sound judgement, strategic thinking and constructive challenge to the Board. Previous trustee experience is welcome but not essential.

This is an opportunity to use your financial expertise to support an organisation tackling inequality, promoting access to justice and helping some of the most vulnerable members of our community. The role requires approximately one day per month, including six board meetings each year, chairing the Finance & Resources Committee, and working closely with the Chief Executive and finance staff between meetings as required.

Based: South West London (Head office in Croydon)
