Deadline: Open. Keen to get the right candidate started asap.
The Exchange, Erith is a community-led cultural organisation based in Erith, founded in 2017 and created to give the town’s ‘Old Library’ a sustainable future and to support local people to “make and make things happen”.
Our work spans craft, design and making, retail and e-commerce, public programmes and courses, community engagement and volunteering, and an award-winning garden, a listed building all focused on sustainability and learning. Our Maker Artists teach in regular workshops – ceramics, textiles, timber and sustainable gardening – for free. In return volunteers sign up to become Volunteer Makers, learning a craft and then making objects for sale in our e-commerce platform and on-site Garden Room store and café.
We use our heritage – the Carnegie Library and Erith’s rich history – to inform what we do and how we do it. We are heavily reliant on grants and project-based income. To grow, we need to build stronger, longer-term income streams and we’re looking for a strong Treasurer to help us prioritise growth and sustainability.
This role is voluntary. Applications from members of The Honorary Treasurers’ Forum highly regarded.
The Exchange is registered as a Charitable Community Benefit Society with the Financial Conduct Authority (RS008163) and has received support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Community Fund and Arts Council England, amongst others.
Based: Erith, Bexley Borough in Southeast London (formerly Kent).
