Deadline: 14th June 2026

The Hardman Trust is a specialist charity supporting people serving long prison sentences to build purposeful futures within and beyond prison. Established in 1994, it provides tailored practical and financial support to help individuals move into work, training or further development, build confidence and belonging, and achieve meaningful personal goals. The charity is values-driven, with a small, committed team and engaged Board, and is entering an important phase as it develops a new strategy and undertakes a governance review in 2026.

The opportunity is to join the Board as Treasurer, acting as the Board’s lead on financial governance. This is a strategic trustee role, not simply a technical finance post. The Treasurer will help ensure the Trust remains financially resilient, compliant and able to allocate resources effectively in support of its mission.  Key responsibilities include advising on strategy and resource planning, supporting trustees in understanding their financial duties, providing clear financial insight for Board decisions, ensuring compliance with charity and company law, and overseeing the annual audit or independent examination.  The role requires strong financial or accounting experience, sound judgement, and alignment with the Trust’s mission and values.

Based: The Hardman Trust is a remote charity with a registered office in London. The Treasurer role is remote, with occasional travel to London for in-person Board meetings and an annual staff and trustees away day.  Board meetings are held four times a year, with two expected to be in person in London and two held virtually. The Finance and Resources sub-committee meets quarterly online.
