The Othona Community is seeking a new Treasurer Trustee to help us with oversight of our finances. Founded in 1946 and with two retreat centres on the Essex and Dorset coasts we are a Chris an charity promo ng reconcilia on through a daily rhythm in our centres of work, worship, study and play. Each centre has a warden and small resident community, supported by non-resident members and volunteers and a central Board of Trustees. We seek an experienced individual who would ideally have a formal accountancy qualifica on, however we would consider candidates who can demonstrate equivalent senior financial experience.
Highlights
- Ensure the Board fulfils its financial responsibili es keeping members informed about the organisa on’s finances by compiling budget posi on sheets accompanied by a full verbal explana on at quarterly mee ngs
- Maintain a clear picture of the financial health of the organisa on and ensure that proper systems for budge ng and financial control are in place
- Work closely with the centre manager and bookkeeper to ensure compliance with accoun ng procedures and advise on spending authorisa on
- Manage the rela onship with our Accountants to ensure compliance with SORP
- Oversee Othona’s community wide cash flow
- Monitor the investment por olio
- Visit centres and personnel as required (ca. 2x per year)
Based: We have two Christian community retreat centres on the coast in Bradwell-on-sea, Essex and Burton Bradstock, Dorset. Our registered address is at our Burton Bradstock site.
